Paddle Move

A paddle is shown to have the same picture on both sides. The picture then magically changes to another picture on both sides. For example a hat would change to a rabbit in a hat, a circle would change to a square, or the letter A would change to the letter B.

Actually any two images can be used. The paddle has two different image one on each side of the paddle. All the magic is done with the handling. For this explanation we will use a paddle that has a hat on one side and a rabbit in a hat on the other side.

To show the paddle with the hat on both sides, hold the bottom handle between the thumb and first two fingers of your right hand. Now turn it over with a wrist movement, at the same time giving it a secret twist between the fingers. Thus the paddle will show the hat on both sides. This takes a little practice but you will soon be able to do it so the spectator can not see the twist at all.

Next place the paddle under the palm of your left hand. Reverse the paddle secretly under cover of your palm. When the left hand is removed, a rabbit is seen in the hat! You can now show the rabbit in the hat on both sides of the paddle by repeating the original movements.

A drink stirrer makes a great paddle. They usually have a logo printed on one side and nothing on the other side. Using the paddle move you can easily make the logo appear and disappear at will.
