Eraser Card

Eraser Card

Effect:
A card is picked and then returned to the center of the deck. You push a button on the top of the deck or make an magic gesture and the card comes to the top of the deck. The card is placed on the table and rubbed in a clockwise direction. You turn the card over and the image on the face of the card has vanished. Rub the card in a clockwise direction again. The image on the back of the card vanishes. The card is now blank on both sides. Rub the card in a counterclockwise direction and the back returns. The card can be inspected. The face of the card is actually blank. Rub the card on the deck and it returns to a normal card the is the card the spectator selected. The card can now be given to the spectator to inspect or keep. This can be done with a signed card if you wish.

Notes:
This is actually a utility trick and can be done several different ways. For the effect above I used a blank face card. If a blank face card is not available you can use a joker, a favorite card or the actual selected card. If you use the joker you would change the selected card to a joker on both sides. If you use the selected card you would change the selected card to the selected card on both sides then change it back to the selected card.

Moves needed:

Finger Break - Your little finger is placed in a small gap in the cards which allows you to control the cared above or below the finger break.

Control to the top - The card is returned to the center of the deck. You keep a finger break with your little finger and then cut the card to the top of the deck.

Double lift - You turn over the top two cards as one. Take a finger break under the top two cards and simply turn them over as one.

False turn over - you appear to turn the card over but you actually show the same side twice. Hold the card face up in the palm of your hand near the finger tips. Turn your hand over but at the same time push your thumb under the card and turn it over. You are actually turning the card over twice which shows the same side twice.

Tilt move - The back of the top card is tilted up from the rest of the deck making the deck look deeper. The spectator's card is inserted under the tilt which makes it look like it is going into the center of the deck. Actually it is the second card from the top.

Setup:
You need a blank face card, joker or some other unusual card you want to use for the trick placed on top of the deck.

Performance:
Have the spectator pick a card from the middle of the deck. Cut the cards and have the spectator return the selected card to the top of the cut pack. Keep a finger break and return the rest of the deck. Cut the cards at the finger break. This puts the selected card on top of the deck and your special card under the selected card. Do a tilt move which places your special card on top and the selected card second from the top. Push the button, do a double lift and the selected card comes to the top again. Now the fun. Turn the double back over and lay the selected card on the table (actually your special card but they think it is the selected card.).

Move the card in a clockwise direction then turn it over showing that the vace is now blank (or a joker). Again rub the card in a clockwise direction then do the false turn over to show the card is now blank on both sides. Lay the card on the table and rub it in a counterclockwise direction. Hand the card out and let them look at it. They can see the back has returned but the face is still blank. Take the card back lay it on the deck do a magic spell and a double lift. The face of the card has now returned also. Tilt the deck slightly so they cannot see the blank face when you slide off the selected card and give it to them to keep.

Note:
This entire routine can be done with a signed card if desired.
