Monty sets a new
Guinness World Record
A segment of Monty's sponge ball routine is now a new Guinness World Record.
On November 10, 2001 Monty set a new record for vanishing 15 sponge balls one by one
using only sleight-of-hand (no gimmicks) and reproducing all of them in his hands at one time.
This record was given official Guinness World Record status on March 3, 2002.
The rules are very specific.
You have to use the 5.08 cm (2 in) Goshman balls. These are the soft sponge
balls but no magic gimmicks or magic apparatus can be used.
The balls must be examined and marked for identification before the trick.
The balls reproduced at the end of the trick must be the same balls with the
same markings.
There can be no misscounting or false balls of any type used.
The balls must be vanished one at a time and then all instantly reproduced
at the same time.
No special clothing of any type can be used. Guinness has it on record that
this could be done in the nude if necessary.
